South Route in Lanzarote

This tour of Lanzarote begins in Mozaga, a small village that marks the start of an exciting journey through the La Geria region, famous for its spectacular agricultural landscape. Here, farmers grow Malvasía grapes using holes dug into volcanic ash, a technique perfectly adapted to the volcanic terrain, resulting in unique wines.

The first important stop is the Museum of Wine, located at Bodegas El Grifo, one of the island's oldest wineries. This museum showcases Lanzarote's rich winemaking tradition, where you can learn about the cultivation process and the history of wine on the island.

After exploring La Geria, the journey continues south to Uga, and shortly after, the charming village of Yaiza, considered one of the most beautiful on the island. From here, we continue to Salinas de Janubio, one of the most important saltworks in the world, where sea salt was extracted in the past. It is an impressive place that combines historical value with the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

A little further ahead, you’ll find Los Hervideros, a natural spectacle where the sea crashes forcefully against volcanic cliffs, creating a stunning display of foam and rocks. Just a few kilometers away, the small village of El Golfo lies next to the submerged crater that forms the Charco de los Clicos, a lagoon with emerald green water, surrounded by wild beauty.

Returning to Yaiza, we head toward the Timanfaya National Park, a protected area of 52 km², famous for its volcanic landscape. The Echadero de los Camellos is the first spot where you can take a camel ride through the stunning park landscapes. Further ahead, we reach Islote de Hilario, home to the El Diablo restaurant, a unique place where cooking is done using the geothermal heat from the volcano.

At this point, you can also take a ride on the collective transport that follows the Route of the Volcanoes, an unforgettable experience that will allow you to discover the immense power of nature.

Finally, on the way back, a stop at the Timanfaya National Park Visitor and Interpretation Center, located near Tinajo, is recommended. This center provides an educational look into everything related to volcanoes, their formation, and the flora and fauna that inhabit this unique landscape.

This tour offers the perfect blend of nature, history, culture, and volcanic landscapes, making Lanzarote an exciting place to explore.
