Tinguatón, it's a little scattered of houses located on both sides of the road that leaves the town of Mancha Blanca.

History

Tinguatón, already existed before 1824, but it was from the eruption of the volcano of the same name when it began. to take name within the toponymy of the island, since it was the epicenter of the last volcano of Lanzarote

After those events, the volcanoes of Lanzarote have entered a period of calm, leaving their mark and preventing the habitability of this entire area. The eruptions of the 19th century and the previous ones, those that occurred between 1730 and 1736, shaped the unique landscape of the island and gave rise to the declaration of one of the four existing national parks in the Canary Islands.

Currently the crater and its surroundings are of great beauty. The Tinguatón volcano is part of the Volcanoes Natural Park.

What to see

A few meters from the town begins the Volcanoes Natural Park inside which is the jewel in the crown of the island's geography, the Timanfaya National Park. .
