
The Valleys is Located to the north of Lanzarote, in the highest and most mountainous area of the municipality of Teguise on the border with Haría, and corresponds to an area of the massif of Famara, cut by numerous ravines, separated by ridges, which is why this area of the term receives the expressive name of Los Valles. On its slopes you can see the agricultural terraces where the products of the land are grown, a place without equal on the island, with very fertile lands where its inhabitants work to obtain the best fruits and vegetables of Lancelot. That is why Los Valles is also known as the “potato town”, due to its great production and quality of this product.
Its full name is Los Valles de Santa Catalina and it comes from the inhabitants of the town of Santa Catalina who settled in the current location, after their homes were destroyed by the eruption of the Timanfaya Volcano. in 1730.
It is a scattered town, although there is a small nucleus concentrated around the hermitage that is located at the bottom of the valley. Traditional constructions are preserved and the new houses respect their style.
