Located in the imposing fortress of Santa Bárbara on top of the Guanapay volcano. The Castle not only had the mission of being a watchtower from which pirate dangers coming from the sea could be sighted, but its rooms served as a refuge for the population, a dungeon for inmates, and even a military dovecote.

The Museum has been divided into two historical blocks:

• The study of piracy in Teguise, what the island population suffered, and how they managed to overcome the pirate threat.
• international piracy in the Canary Islands, which is an archipelago located at the crossroads of American routes, has been since the Discovery of America a propitious scenario for international piracy.

The visit concludes at the top of the Castle, the passage through this area the perfect climax to the visit to the museum.  From where on a good day you can enjoy one of the best views of Lanzarote, contemplating: Jable, mountains, lava, and islets such as Montaña Clara and Alegranza, the neighboring island of Fuerteventura...
