Montaña Blanca

Güme is a town belonging to the municipality of San Bartolomé, which is located in the center of Lanzarote. It receives the name of the mountain that is located to the south, the White Mountain, an ancient volcano of the intermediate series of the geology of the island of Lanzarote, which with a height of 598 meters above sea level is the fifth height of the island.

Its image is that of a small valley sandwiched between three volcanic cones: Montaña Guatisea, Montaña Blanca and Lomo de Thesa. Its appearance of white houses between gentle valleys surrounded by vineyards and sandbanks, fields covered with volcanic lapilli generate a picture of the most rural and traditional Lanzarote.

What to do

If you are a nature lover and would like to get to know the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote, Montaña Blanca is the ideal place to start your trails. In addition to being able to reach the crater of the volcano, you can discover the maretas of Montaña Blanca, cisterns excavated on the southern slope of the volcanic edifice and a very important source of water for the people of Lanzarote in the 20th century.

Both the Blanca mountain and the Guatisea mountain are home to a multitude of rock manifestations of the aborigines of the island (the Majos).

Festivities

The town celebrates the festivities of María Auxiliadora on May 24. A festival with a strong traditional character in which traditional Canarian sporting events are celebrated, such as the Canarian ball or card games. In addition to the typical festivals in a family and cozy atmosphere.
