La Asomada

The town of La Asomada is located on the slopes of the volcano known as Montaña de Gaida. It is a nucleus with a great agricultural tradition, although this has tended to subside in recent years.

La asomada has a scattered layout with houses more or less grouped together separated by small plots.

Toponymy

It is said that this place owes its name to the fact that the inhabitants of the towns located behind this mountain, buried by the volcanic eruptions of 1730-36, looked out on the top of this mountain to see if they spotted on the coasts, Barbary boats to commit the dreaded "razzias".

What to do

As a natural attraction, the mountains of Guardilama stand out, one of the most imposing mountains in Lanzarote and the third highest on the island. With a small hiking trail you can climb to its crater and enjoy the best views of the island to the south coast of Lanzarote.

If you prefer a more relaxed plan, you can stroll through the streets of the town and discover the traditional island architecture.

Holidays

In the first week of May it celebrates its festivities in honor of San José; Worker. These festivals are characterized by the simplicity of their acts and the maintenance of their traditions.
