Haría, Ermita de las Nieves

We start from Plaza de la Constitución, Haría, towards El Puente street and along Elvira Sánchez street to the municipal sports center.

From the municipal sports center we left Haría along a dirt track and volcanic sand, or rofe, surrounded by sanded. The track ends in a narrow path that runs along the riverbed of the Elvira Sánchez Ravine, which is terraced for cultivation.

The Most of the crops are abandoned, so we can see how tajinastes, tojio hearts (Nauplius intermedius), cañahejas..., in addition to wild olive trees, Tasaigos (Rubia fructicosa), mastic and other elements of the thermophilic forest. The biggest humidity that this area possesses, allows the growth of these species but of a smaller size, due to the grazing of the herds of goats.

We then ascend the left slope of the Malpaso Valley to the Bosquecillo. In this section we cross an area repopulated with acacias, Canarian pine and Aleppo pine.

At the top we continue to the edge of the Risco de Famara, where there is a recreation area set up as a picnic area, from which we can observe the northeast coast of the island.

This It is a very rich area from the biological point of view, hosting including laurel forest elements, such as the azaigo del risco, as well as endemisms typical of the Famara cliff such as the Lanzarote magarza or Santa María flower. (Argyranthemum Maderense), the Famara immortelle (Limonium puberlum), the field bindweed (Convolvulus lopezsocasi), the red tinder (Helichrysum webbii). By Unfortunately, several of these species are in danger of extinction, so we have to take extreme precautions not to damage any specimen. In addition, numerous birds nest in the nearby, so we can observe them in flight as they are kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) ravens (Corvus coraz) barbershop falcon (Falco pelegrinoids), etc.

We return to the track by which we accessed the picnic area, we continued until we reached the old Las Nieves road, paved to the military installations that They are found in the Peñas del Chache. Continue along the path between potato and fruit crops to the Ermita de las Nievess, a building dating from the 15th century. From this point we will have an interesting view of the center of the island.
