Caleta de Caballo

Located on the northwest coast of the island of Lanzarote, in the inner left corner of the large cove that forms in this coastal part of the island, with its houses being built around the cove that gives it its name.

It is a picturesque town, whose birth is due to the construction, at the beginning of the last century, of a small warehouse by a resident of Tiagua. In the second decade of that century, a few fishermen joined it, who built their respective dry stone huts to stay in, until summer houses began to be built by people from nearby towns, which increased in number. Only gradually, the pace of construction accelerating to the rhythm of the tourist development of the island. 

What to do

It has a white sand beach that is very pleasant, especially at high tide, and along its coast the lava has formed a multitude of capricious caves where octopuses, limpets and crabs are easily found.

Caleta Caballo is also an ideal place to practice surfing and bodyboarding, and its waves are of great quality, as is the case throughout that area of the island. .

The Fiestas de La Lapa are the most popular in Caleta de Caballo and usually start at the beginning of September.
