Ancla Beach

Ancla Beach

The Playa del Ancla is also known in Lanzarote as Playa del Rey, due to the proximity of the residence Las Maretas, first property of the King of Spain as a gift from King Hussein of Jordan and now Patrimonio Nacional.

This is a charming, small and quiet cove of sand and volcanic rocks, away from the commercial center of Costa Teguise, towards Arrecife.

Sheltered by natural dykes, it is a beach with calm waters, ideal for spending a day with the family. It is also a good natural pool where you can swim a few lengths. It is very popular with residents of the island.

It is a beach that suffers a lot from the weather in the south and despite the fact that it is rare on the island, the shortages are becoming more and more evident  of sand and the area to deposit the towel becomes the stone slabs.

Access is from the promenade that surrounds the beach through some stairs that end up on the beach itself. It has showers that allow us to wash up once the day at the beach is over.

What to do

Its rocky bottoms are home to a multitude of fish and its calm waters are the delight of bathers, ideal for swimming and diving.
